About Arden

Energy Conservation

Arden is very proud of being one of the pioneering real estate organizations for the Green movement. Arden’s focus on sustainability began in 1998 when it launched a portfolio-wide energy conservation program. One California energy crisis and four Federal EPA Energy Star Partner of the Year Awards later, what seemed a revolutionary approach has become one of the real estate industries most significant case studies for financial and environmental success.

Today, we continue to review and implement new technologies and energy conservation practices:

  • Arden’s portfolio has included 581 Energy Star labeled buildings from 1999-2007 making it one of the largest number of Energy Star office buildings in a single commercial portfolio
  • Three-time winner of EPA Energy Star Partner of the Year
  • Retrofit lighting and HVAC systems
  • Benchmark 100% of our buildings with the EPA tool
  • Efficient innovations across the portfolio lowered the electric energy consumption by approximately 41 million kwh, reducing 65 millions pounds of CO2 emissions
  • Arden’s portfolio-wide emissions reductions are the equivalent of taking 5,436 cars off American roads annually, conserving 67,849 Barrels of oil, or powering 3,931 American homes each year *

Sustainable Operational Practices

Recently, the commercial real estate industry has placed tremendous focus on “Green” development and “Sustainable” operational practices. Significant momentum has been driven through our industry with the development of the US Green Buildings Council’s LEED program and the Federal EPA’s Energy Star Program.

Arden continues to build upon its success as one of the leaders of sustainable operating practices:

  • LEED Accredited Professionals and Professional Engineers on staff
  • Launching LEED EB Portfolio initiative in Q4 2007

Sustainable Development

Arden’s green development combines our history as a leader in green practices with our legacy of being significant developer of commercial real estate assets. Arden currently has several development opportunities under review and looks forward to launching our first LEED NC development in 2008.
